A 1980 Chancellor’s Leadership Award winner and third-generation UW-Stevens Point alum returned to campus to share his “View from the Top” perspective on Tuesday, April 23. Peter Bushman ’80 visited with UWSP School of Business & Economics students and discussed his 30 years of sales and marketing experience and encouraged students to “make an investment in yourself, employers will invest in you.”

Bushman, the director of North American sales at Honeywell, also worked at IBM and Motorola. He discussed different types of leadership, including positional power, charismatic leadership and technical competence, and the importance of understanding when and how to use each style.

Bushman, who met his wife Lori while working for Residential Living in Pray-Sims Hall at UWSP, reminded students to remember their priorities and make sure to keep a work-life balance. He left the students with one last bit of advice, “Hold tight to your reputation. Ethics and honesty are the two most important things you have in your career.”
