Hola chicos!

My boyfriend and I on New Years Eve. (Happy to not be leaving him for 5 months like last year when I studied abroad)

Happy New Year everyone! I hope your last semester wrapped up nicely and you had a good holiday break! I know I had a great time celebrating with my family and friends but now I’m relaxed and recharged for this coming year.

Looking back on last year is just mind-blowing to me because of everything that happened. I studied abroad in Spain, traveled much of Europe, had a great summer, turned 21, and then a fantastic semester back at UW-Stevens Point. I am happy to announce that I made high honors this last semester which I am very proud of because that was a goal of mine that I set back in September. I can only dream of what this year will hold for me. I think this would be a good place for me to put some of my goals in writing and perhaps this will give you readers some ideas of goals you might want to set for yourselves.

Goal #1 Be More Positive

I like to think that I am a happy person but I know I can get down sometimes. Between school and work and relationships it can often being overwhelming for me. I usually am good about getting over and working through problems and I just want to continue that this year. I want to be more positive about my future and not stress for no reason. I’m sure this is a goal that many of us could work on.

Goal #2 Honors

I would like to make honors again this spring semester. I was so happy when I set a goal for myself to make high honors last fall and then I did it. It was challenging but so worth it in the end. Before that I had never really set a goal for myself like that and I can tell it really helped me stay motivated with school. If you’re finding that you are losing motivation when it comes to school then maybe before this semester starts set a goal like for yourself. This semester I just want to make honors but maybe your goal is to not get lower than a certain grade in just one class or something more all encompassing such as a certain grade point average. I find it helps when you write down your goals or share them with people because it gives you something to keep you going.

Goal #3 Internship

Puzzles and hanging out with my mom and my sister over break was one of the best parts.

Within this next year I would like to get or at least be accepted to some kind of internship. My ideal internship would be the program through UWSP Study Abroad and School of Business & Economics that is based in London. I will apply for that this fall but I don’t want to limit myself to only that internship. I will look for others and maybe I’ll end up finding something else that suits me.

Goal #4 Healthy Habits

I would like to continue my healthy habits that I started this last year. I want to continue to eat healthy and be smart about what goes into my body. I would like to continue my yoga practice and perhaps even do it more often. I have considered becoming a certified yoga instructor so I think that is something I will look into doing this year. I know many people like to set new years resolutions dealing with health or their physical self. If that is something you want to improve about yourself then do it! Just don’t turn into one of those people who says they want to lose weight or something and don’t do anything about it. If you have a goal, then set it and make steps to work on it.

These are just a few things that I am looking forward to doing this year, but who knows what will happen along the way. I’m sure a have a lot in store, just like each student does here at UW-Stevens Point and beyond. I wish you all a wonderful start to this next glorious year!

Hasta Luego,
Alexia
