Assistant Professor Susan Turgeson, Ed.D., CFCS was presented with the 2016 Leader Award at the Wisconsin Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (WAFCS) Annual Conference Friday, April 1.

Turgeson, who has served as treasurer of WAFCS since 2000, adds the Leaders Award to her impressive list of honors:

  • 2015 President-elect National Association of Teacher Educators For Family and Consumer Sciences
  • 2009 American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher of the Year
  • 2008 Wisconsin Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher of the Year

The Leaders Award was introduced as a part of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) 75th Anniversary observance in 1984. It was established to identify and honor family and consumer sciences professionals who have made significant contributions to the field through their involvement with AAFCS.
