The UW-Stevens Point School of Business and Economics handed out $85,300 in 23 scholarships to 37 students as well as multiple awards to students and faculty at its 2019 Awards Reception sponsored by Associated Bank Friday, April 26 in the Dreyfus University Center Laird Room. [Photo Album]

The event also included a special presentation to junior Jose Saul Vasquez the 2019 College of Professional Studies Heroes Award.

The School of Business and Economics is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), ranking our program among the top 20 percent in the nation and top 5 percent in the world.

Cody Abel from Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., is double majoring in accounting and business administration. Cody is a member of the UWSP Accounting Club and is a tax preparer for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance).

Ashley Bender from Wausau, Wis., is double majoring in business management and psychology with an emphasis in human services. Ashley is an officer for UWSP SHRM and a part of the American Legion Lady’s Auxiliary. She volunteers at the Marathon County Humane Society and is a volunteer soccer coach at the Greenheck Fieldhouse. She is also a TRX certified instructor.

Yifen Chen from Yuxi, Yun Nan Province, China, is double majoring in business finance and business management. Yifen is a member of the International Club and volunteers at the I-Dinner.

David Colby from Stevens Point, Wis., is majoring in business administration with concentrations in management and finance, insurance and real estate. David is a peer adviser for the School of Business and Economics.

Gavin Czerwonka from Wittenberg, Wis., is double majoring in accounting and finance. Gavin is a UWSP Accounting Club member and an assistant coach for Charger Youth and Middle School Wrestling Club.

Suzanne Debot from Plover, Wis., is majoring in economics and minoring in political science. Suzanne is a member of the Student Legal Society and Student Government Association.

Bradley Duffin from Red Deer Alberta, Canada., is majoring in business administration with concentrations in management and marketing. Bradley is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and the UWSP men’s ice hockey team.

Brendyn Ford from Machesney Park, Ill., is double majoring in business administration and economics. Brendyn is a member of the UWSP football and plays intramural basketball. He volunteers to read books to elementary students.

Kimberly Ann Freese from La Crescent, Minn., is double majoring in accounting and business management. Kimberly is a member of the UWSP Accounting Club and the National Honor Society of Leadership and Success.

Tyler Hillery from Marathon, Wis., is double majoring in business administration and finance. Tyler works with one of the SBE faculty members as a research associate.

Kevin participates in intramural basketball, volleyball and softball. He is also a member of the Suites Community Council-Suites @201 and the UWSP Accounting Club.

Chelsea Strube from Winchester, Wis., is majoring in finance. Chelsea is the vice president of the Financial Literacy Association and is also a UWSP Financial Coaching manager.

Jeremy Andrew Swider from Milwaukee, Wis., is majoring in accounting and minoring in economics. Jeremy volunteers at St. Ann Rest Home in Milwaukee and is a member of the UWSP Accounting Club.

Jose Saul Vasquez from Osicala, El Salvador, is majoring in business administration with a concentration in management. Jose is a Professional Pointer Events intern for SBE. He also founded Sharing Joy, a charity that provides mobility equipment, volunteer opportunities, and access to health care to people with disabilities.

Makenzie Wozniak from Mosinee, Wis., is majoring in business administration with concentrations in marketing and finance, insurance and real estate, and minoring in economics. Makenzie is the president of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, and a member of the National Residence Hall Honorary and Order of Omega. She volunteers at The Cupboard, Make a Difference Day, blood drives and at the Portage County Humane Society.
