Since I almost wiped out twice on the way to class today, I thought it would be fitting to talk about how to get you to class in one piece on these cold winter days. We all have been hearing about this huge winter storm that is coming our way, and I know most of us are hoping that our professors are going to cancel at least one of our classes. On these next couple of cold winter days, a lot of us are not going to want to get out of our warm beds for our 8 a.m. class, but for those of you whose professor decides class is still on, I am here to give you some tips of how to get to class on time.

Drive like your grandma
For those of you like myself, who commute to school, drive cautiously. Leave earlier than you normally would. Be that person who is going too slow, but will be the safe one in the end.

Shuffle your feet
While walking to class you may not see the ice, so shuffle your feet. You do not want to be the person that ends up on the ground or pulls something trying to stay on your feet.

Bundle up
Wear layers. It is going to be bitter and gusty, so make sure you are not leaving your warm building unprepared.

If you follow these guidelines, you will make it to class. While driving warily, shuffling, and bundling up, we all may look like our grandparents for a day or two, but at least we will be safe and cozy. But for whatever reason, if you are not able to make it to class, be sure to contact your professor. Also, check your email for any professors letting you know if they are going to cancel class, you would not want to get out of bed for nothing. Be cautious on these blustery days and maybe with any luck, one of your professors may cancel a class.

Mikayla Jankowski is a business administration major and communication minor at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
