He was a member of the faculty at UW-Stevens Point from 1950 until he retired in 1984.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was a longtime administrator and teacher, and may have set a record in the number of different positions he filled. He began his career at UW-Stevens Point as a sixth grade teacher. He later served as director of Delzell Men\u2019s Residence Hall, assistant director of teacher education and placement, professor of education, dean of men, chairman of the education department, dean of the College of Education, director of the graduate program, dean of educational services and innovative programs, teacher-administrator of the university\u2019s first semester in Taiwan program, and acting vice chancellor for academic affairs. He retired as dean of academic support programs, which included administering the Albertson Learning Resources Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He helped to establish the Native American program. He made education available to children who had few opportunities. He set up a program for migrant workers, writing a basic elementary training program and finding people to teach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He served as a consultant for the higher education survey team based at UW-Stevens Point for service to the government of South Vietnam. Between the late 1960s and early 1970s, he made a total of 10 trips to South Vietnam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was president of the Wisconsin Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development and a member of the board of directors of it national affiliate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A private family gathering will be held.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legacy.com\/obituaries\/stevenspointjournal\/obituary.aspx?n=burdette-wilmont-eagon&amp;pid=195970959&amp;fhid=19793\">Full Obituary<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bud Eagon, former dean of academic support programs, died April 11, 2020, in Amherst Junction, Wisconsin.
