Offered in collaboration with the National Board of Medical Examiners, it represents the profession\u2019s highest standard and is based on extensive research and the training, education, and assessment of coaches who attended an NBHWC-approved program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want to thank our students, the UWSP\u2013NWI team and the\nNBHWC organization who collectively helped us reach this goal,\u201d said\nKrolczyk.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The nine-month 100 percent online program is comprised of four eight-week classes and independent teaching and learning. The program, the only one based in Wisconsin that is approved by NBHWC, offers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/HPHD\/Pages\/Certificates\/healthwellnesscoaching\/program.aspx\">two pathways to completion<\/a> that prepare participants for the national certification exam. The continuing professional development option does not require a bachelor\u2019s degree, while the graduate credit option can count toward many master\u2019s degree programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The health coaching field is growing\u2014fast. It\u2019s now a $6\nbillion market in the United States and is projected to grow faster than\naverage for careers in America. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/07\/chuck_gillespie.jpg\" alt=\"Chuck Gillespie\" class=\"wp-image-10320\" width=\"150\" height=\"212\" \/><figcaption>Chuck Gillespie<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWellness is taking a front seat in today&#8217;s society, and\nhealth coaches are going to be at the forefront of leading the change for the\nhealth, wellness and social justice for all individuals,\u201d said Chuck Gillespie,\nexecutive director\/CEO of the National Wellness Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Health and wellness coaches guide individuals during their\ntransformative journey of achieving lasting change and enhanced well-being.\nCoaches create and sustain health-behavior change by helping people overcome\nhurdles, surpass limitations and tap into their own unrealized personal and\nprofessional potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur health and wellness coaching certificate provides the structure, support and expertise that comes from blending the UW-Stevens Point health coaching curriculum with the Six Dimensions of Wellness and the Multicultural Competency models from the National Wellness Institute,\u201d added Gillespie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UW-Stevens Point is considered the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/health\/Pages\/about\/BirthplaceWellness.aspx\">birthplace of wellness<\/a>, establishing the first wellness degree program in the world and offering the first bachelor&#8217;s program in the U.S. accredited by the National Wellness Institute.
