Reasonable living costs, diverse cultural opportunities, youth programming, and community resources are the top reported advantages. At UW-Stevens Point (UWSP) one of those community resources for local businesses and organizations is the School of Business and Economics (SBE).

“A thriving local community and a strong pool of business students are hugely beneficial to each other,” said Kevin Neuman, head of SBE. “By helping our local economy thrive we provide excellent opportunities for our students. Those opportunities in return bring in new students who are bright leaders who will help strengthen the local economy.”

Some of the opportunities provided for local businesses and organizations from SBE are as follows:

Corporate Partners

SBE works with a network of local businesses and organizations to provide applied learning opportunities for students. Corporate Partners have the chance to work with students both on their worksite through internships and/or class project options and on-campus through class presentations, networking events, and SBE’s Anderson Center’s Lunch with a Leader program.

Women Trailblazers and Entrepreneurs Conference

SBE will be co-hosting the second annual conference focused on empowering, inspiring and celebrating women trailblazers and founders. The Women’s Trailblazers and Entrepreneurs Conference will be held during Women’s Entrepreneurship Week on Oct. 27. The conference can be attended virtually or on-site in Wausau. This year Liz Nilsen, sponsored by the Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership, will be speaking on Strategic Doing: Leadership for Flourishing Communities. The center is a great resource for start-ups as well as veteran companies looking for growth and innovative solutions. As shared on its site, “The center provides educational opportunities through individual counseling sessions, as well as conferences and presentations, and builds strong relationships with community leaders so all businesses can achieve their version of success!” Check out the website at uwsp.edu/sbdc.

If you are interested in learning more about these and other opportunities available to the community from SBE contact Carie Winn at 715-346-2448 or cwinn@uwsp.edu.
