The Department of Military Science<\/a> at UW-Stevens Point announced the appointment of Major Jordan Schumacher as its new professor of Military Science, effective December 2024. A native of Weyauwega, Wis., Schumacher brings a wealth of leadership experience and a distinguished military career to this role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schumacher will also oversee the entire Northwoods Battalion, which is comprised of the Army ROTC programs at UW-Stout, UW-Eau Claire, UW-River Falls and UW-Stevens Point. He previously served as an assistant professor of Military Science at UW-Stout from 2019-21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am excited to return to the Northwoods Battalion ROTC, completing a full-circle journey from student and assistant instructor to this leadership role,\u201d said Schumacher. \u201cI look forward to working with the university, community and Army cadre to develop the next generation of U.S. Army officers who will serve our nation for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schumacher\u2019s military journey began early when he enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard while still in high school. Pursuing a passion for service and leadership, he joined the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) during college at UW-Stout, where he earned recognition as a Distinguished Military Graduate. Commissioned as an officer in 2010, Schumacher has since excelled in numerous leadership positions across aviation and military intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout his career, Schumacher has demonstrated exceptional dedication, including deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Inherent Resolve, and missions in AFRICOM and SOUTHCOM. Notably, he has served as a platoon leader, company commander and battalion executive officer, showcasing his commitment to mission success and troop welfare. An accomplished pilot, Schumacher has flown the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter and multiple fixed-wing aircraft, maintaining proficiency throughout his leadership roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His academic achievements include a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from UW-Stout and a Master\u2019s in Military Art and Science from the Air Command and Staff College at Air University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Returning to his roots in Wisconsin, Schumacher is eager to lead the Department of Military Science, inspire the next generation of military leaders, and share his extensive operational knowledge.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUW-Stevens Point, with its welcoming community and small-town atmosphere, is the perfect place for my family and me,\u201d said Schumacher. He relocated back to Weyauwega with his wife, Jessica, and their children, Cooper and Raegan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
