[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/UWSPeducation\/posts\/pfbid02sKqQqGoeaqBpoP9yoSJ25zWuBFz59PW5237xHnBYJT1Q47AffeYpp7vbqSoU5KmBl\">View Photos<\/a>]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Themed \u201cIn It Together,\u201d the summit included speakers and optional competitive events where students can showcase their developing career-related skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the fifth year in row UWSP has been the host institution for the event, demonstrating how the \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/education\/Pages\/harju\/default.aspx\">Harju Center for Opportunities in Education<\/a> at UW-Stevens Point aims to empower learners though collaborative, inclusive and sustainable opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brian Collins, the 2024 Wisconsin State Teacher of the Year, served as this year\u2019s keynote speaker with a talk focusing on how educators impact their students, communities and future generations. Breakout sessions were facilitated by distinguished educators, with several colleges and professional organizations taking part in a recruitment fair. A number of competitive events and contests were held about lesson planning, leadership, public speaking, research and ethics. The top two scoring contestants in each competitive event qualified for the national competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/weac.org\/resources\/professional-resources\/educators-rising\/\">Educators Rising Wisconsin<\/a>, coordinated by the <a href=\"https:\/\/weac.org\/\">Wisconsin Education Association Council<\/a>, is a network of educators and students who promote teaching careers and support future educators. The organization has grown to 98 chapters across the state and is part of many districts\u2019 Grow-your-Own teacher recruitment strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEducators Rising helps students prepare for education careers in multiple ways,\u201d said WEAC President Peggy Wirtz-Olsen. \u201cMore than half the teachers who go into the profession leave within five years, and they often report feeling unprepared and finding a lack of support in the classroom. Through Educators Rising, the educators of the future can start getting that support and preparation while they also develop leadership skills and confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/03\/edrising2025b.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/03\/edrising2025b.jpg\" alt=\"Educators Rising\" class=\"wp-image-13541\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/03\/edrising2025b.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/03\/edrising2025b-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/03\/edrising2025b-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>UW-Stevens Point education students and faculty volunteered and took part in a panel at the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1894, the School of Education has been the hub of teacher preparation programs at UW-Stevens Point. It prepares future teachers majoring in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/education\/Pages\/earlychildhood.aspx\">early childhood education<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/education\/Pages\/elementary.aspx\">elementary education<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/education\/Pages\/physicaleducation.aspx\">physical education<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/education\/Pages\/specialeducation.aspx\">special education<\/a>.
