Part of the mission of the College of Professional Studies at UW-Stevens Point is to “prepare undergraduate and graduate students for successful professional careers, while we emphasize critical thinking, leadership skills, ethics and lifelong learning.”<\/em> That statement was in full effect at the CPS Student Presidents Cabinet meeting Thursday, Oct. 25 as LTC Gary Thompson from the university’s ROTC program talked about what it means to be a leader. Thompson’s message included the discussion of what it means to be a leader, how to become a leader, and the Army Leadership Model of “Be. Know. Do.”<\/p>\n

Students also shared best practices from their student organization including networking with professionals, organizing state conferences and community events, offering mock interviews, and emphasizing communication from a leadership position.<\/p>\n

The Student Presidents Cabinet meets once per semester and gives student leaders the opportunity to meet with CPS Dean Marty Loy, collaborate with other disciplines, and have a voice within the college.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
