Whether it be in college or kindergarten, technology and teaching go hand-in-hand. At UW-Stevens Point, the new Center for Collaborative and Interactive Technologies (CCIT) is preparing to launch its first cohort of Tech Select faculty that will enhance their skills necessary to engage students and promote high academic achievement through the use of technology.<\/p>\n

The initial College of Professional Studies cohort of Tech Select faculty, set to begin in January 2013, includes Pam Bork, Carole Paulson, Kathe Julin, Elle Wu, Pam Terrell, Kelly Schoonaert, Celine Kline, Sterling Wall and Danelle Smith.<\/p>\n

“I am very excited to assist the faculty members on this venture and applaud their initiative to join this group,” said Kristi Roth, Ph.D., director of the CCIT.<\/p>\n

The Tech Select program provides monthly training for chosen faculty members in a wide variety of educational technologies. Tech Select faculty identify one course to infuse training in technology with their students. They develop one outcome for their students to exhibit competency in the chosen technology. Additionally, in the same course, a technology outreach component involving a community partner will be required.<\/p>\n

\nTechnology Outcome:<\/strong> Students will create classroom presentations, assessment, and rubrics using Prezi, SMART Notebook, and iPad applications
\nTechnology Outreach:<\/strong> Outcomes will be developed based on SPSD teacher needs and provided to the school district.<\/p>\n
