Overall Goal of Internship
\n<\/strong>At completion of this internship, the intern will gain an excellent understanding and knowledge of how Gundersen Health System provides a variety of health and wellness programs to employees\/community-sponsored events. The intern will gain experience in behavior change facilitation including Health Risk Assessment, intervention, and reassessment, and will create promotional and marketing projects to increase participation or sales. The organizational experiences will allow for some supervision of an event, small budget experiences, in-service training, and shadowing of the internship supervisor. The intern will work with and be supervised by the Gundersen Health System on-site internship supervisor, Sarah Havens. The intern will complete experiences as outlined by the following specific objectives and be evaluated on his\/her performance in each of these areas.<\/p>\n

The student will complete 3-4 resume-building experiences from the categories below. Specific projects and outcomes may be added as addendum to this plan within the first 2 weeks of being on-site. Significant changes to the Objectives will be mutually agreed upon by the Internship site supervisor, the student intern, and the UWSP internship supervisor and documentation of these changes will be sent to the UWSP internship supervisor<\/em><\/p>\n

    1. Health screenings<\/li>\n
    2. Education opportunities (employees on health weight, importance of preventive care)<\/li>\n
    3. Educate de-stress participants on coping strategies (design employee stress techniques)<\/li>\n
    4. Educating professionals working with older adults (memory disorders)<\/li>\n
    5. Healthy Holiday party planning tips (prevent drinking and driving, healthy eating)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    6. Promotion and Marketing:\n
        \n
      1. Writing article on health and wellness topic in November\/December newsletter (coping with winter blues, etc.)<\/li>\n
      2. Creating a display on nicotine cessation options for Great American Smoke Out<\/li>\n
      3. Assist with well-being challenges and special events<\/li>\n
      4. Disseminate fliers and work on the community resource outreach project<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
      5. Organizational Experiences:\n
          \n
        1. Work with mentor who organize and schedule support staff for employees health screenings<\/li>\n
        2. Work with mentor to confirm budgetary needs and implement health aging conference<\/li>\n
        3. Attend department staff meetings and other meetings regarding organizational initiatives<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
