{"id":845,"date":"2011-12-09T10:47:56","date_gmt":"2011-12-09T16:47:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/?p=845"},"modified":"2011-12-09T10:47:56","modified_gmt":"2011-12-09T16:47:56","slug":"ia-faculty-earns-green-building-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/2011\/12\/09\/ia-faculty-earns-green-building-award\/","title":{"rendered":"IA faculty member earns Green Building Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<figure><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2011\/12\/TomBrownAward201112.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-846\" title=\"TomBrownAward201112\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2011\/12\/TomBrownAward201112.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"576\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>A design by Stevens Point architect and UWSP Senior Lecture of Interior Architecture <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/ia\/Pages\/Faculty\/tbrown.aspx\">Thomas Brown<\/a> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meadwildlife.org\/\">Mead Wildlife Area Education and Visitor Center<\/a> has been honored with the &#8220;2011 Green Building Award,&#8221; from the WoodWorks Central United States Region this week.<\/p>\n<p>WoodWorks is an initiative of the Wood Products Council, which is a cooperative venture of all the major wood associations in North America, as well as research organizations and government agencies.<\/p>\n<p>The Mead Wildlife Area Education and Visitor Center features state-of-the-art green design and five different types of renewable energy. It is located midway between Wausau, Stevens Point, Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids. The 6,208-square-foot Education and Visitor Center utilizes many forms of sustainable energy and serves as a showroom and educational facility for visitors.<\/p>\n<p>Brown holds national certification by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and from the U.S. Green Building Council as a Leadership in Energy &amp; Environmental Design (LEED)-Accredited Professional.
