The intern will gain<br \/>\nexperience in behavior change facilitation including assessment, intervention and reassessment. Create<br \/>\npromotional and marketing projects to increase participation or sales. The organizational experiences<br \/>\nwill allow for some supervision of an event, small budget experiences and in service training, shadowing<br \/>\nof the internship supervisor. The intern will work and be supervised by the USAA Fitness<br \/>\nCenter\/Internship Coordinator on-site internship supervisor. The intern will complete experiences as<br \/>\noutlined by the following specific objectives and be evaluated upon performance in each of these areas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Behavior:\n<ol>\n<li>Learn and teach a variety of group exercise classes.<\/li>\n<li>Do a case study on multiple new fitness center members; include assessing them,<br \/>\ndesigning and implementing a program, and reassess after specific amount of time.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Perform all inclusive fitness assessment: resting heart rate and blood pressure, height<br \/>\nand weight, body composition, strength testing, flexibility and submax bicycle ergometer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Monitor and interact with fitness center members on a daily basis.\n<ol>\n<li>Monitor heart rate, blood pressure<\/li>\n<li>Assist with weight training techniques<\/li>\n<li>Assist with warm up, cool down, flexibility<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Promotion and Marketing:\n<ol>\n<li>Present 30 minute \u201clunch and learn\u201d to USAA employees with power point slide show.<\/li>\n<li>Create and administer an incentive program event o all USAA fitness center members to<br \/>\nparticipate in.<\/li>\n<li>Create a bulletin board with health\/wellness\/fitness information for members\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>Promote recreational activity for employees.\n<ol>\n<li>Weekend event with family members<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Organizational Experiences:\n<ol>\n<li>Attend weekly intern meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Staff assistant- spend time with 2 new employee\u2019s each week to learn about each<br \/>\none and what each employee does.<\/li>\n<li>Improve and learn budgeting materials.<\/li>\n<li>Plan, organize and implement an entire weekend recreational event for employees.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Contact<\/strong><br \/>\nLaurie Setley<br \/>\nFitness Center Lead<br \/>\n17200 Commerce Park Blvd.<br \/>\nTampa, FL 33647<br \/>\n<a href=\"mailto:laurie.setley@usaa.com\">laurie.setley@usaa.com<\/a><br \/>\nPhone: 813-615-6393<br \/>\nFax:\u00a0813-615-5456<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours<br \/>\n<\/strong>Minimum 400 hours, 40 hrs\/week<br \/>\nScheduled: M-F<br \/>\nFirst week is orientation hours 9am-3pm<br \/>\nWeeks 2 and beyond, alternate between early, middle or late shift:<br \/>\nEarly shift 6am-2:30pm; Middle shift 8am-4:30pm; Late shift 9:30am-6pm<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stipend<br \/>\n<\/strong>Performance based stipend at the end of internship<\/p>\n<p><strong>UW-Stevens Point Students Who Completed Internship<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lynsey Nelson, Summer 2011 (pictured above)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Overall Goal of Internship At completion of this internship, the intern will gain an excellent understanding and knowledge of how USAA provides a variety of health and wellness programs to their employees.
