{"id":8843,"date":"2018-03-15T14:32:11","date_gmt":"2018-03-15T19:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/?p=8843"},"modified":"2018-03-15T14:32:11","modified_gmt":"2018-03-15T19:32:11","slug":"hpw-internship-milwaukee-area-health-education-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/2018\/03\/15\/hpw-internship-milwaukee-area-health-education-center\/","title":{"rendered":"HPW Internship: Milwaukee Area Health Education Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Overall Goal of Internship<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the completion of this internship, the intern will have developed an excellent understanding and knowledge of a Community Health Promotion Program.\u00a0 The intern will gain experience and knowledge in promotion and marketing, behavior change facilitation, and organizational experience approve by site supervisor and implemented at various community sites.\u00a0 The intern agrees to follow all employee rules and facility guidelines.\u00a0 The intern will make useful contribution to the Wisconsin Arthritis Program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Behavior Change:\n<ol>\n<li>Attend the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program exercise training and become certified in Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program instruction by February 30th.<\/li>\n<li>Work under the supervision of Anne Kissack to teach and assist Arthritis Foundation Exercise Programs for elderly individuals at various locations including retirement centers, hospitals, churches, fitness centers, and municipal parks and recreation facilities.<\/li>\n<li>Follow a client throughout six weeks of the arthritis foundation exercise program measuring joint pain with a ten step flexibility test, given at the beginning and end the program.<\/li>\n<li>Assist Arthritis Foundation Self-Help Program leader in teaching self-management skills so that people with arthritis can function more effectively on a day-to-day basis. Topics may include medication management, managing fatigue, problem-solving techniques, nutrition, and exercise, and confidence building.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Promotion and Marketing:\n<ol>\n<li>Work with communication coordinator on new communication campaign promoting arthritis prevention.<\/li>\n<li>Develop promotional pieces including a proclamation, press release, and newsletter dependent on the marketing plan.<\/li>\n<li>Promote the State Plan Kickoff Summit by contacting possible attendees, sending out invitations, and setting up the event\u2019s schedule.\u00a0 Develop a marketing plan (MARCOM) for Summit to increase corporate sponsorship\/funding, attendance (10%), and mail list.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Organizational:\n<ol>\n<li>Work on the organization of State Plan Kickoff Summit.<\/li>\n<li>Create and revise the budget ($20,000) for the State Plan Kickoff Summit.<\/li>\n<li>Explore opportunities for activity with businesses and governors worksite wellness program.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Contact<\/strong><br \/>\nAnne Kissack, MPH, RD<br \/>\nWisconsin Arthritis Program Coordinator<br \/>\n2224 W.
