The intern will follow all employee\u00a0and facility guidelines determined by the facility\u00a0supervisor, Wendy Staven.\u00a0 The intern will acquire\u00a0knowledge in three main areas: behavior change\u00a0facilitation, organizational, and promotion and\u00a0marketing.\u00a0 The intern will make useful contributions\u00a0to the Boys and girls Club of Portage County, Inc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Behavior:\n<ol>\n<li>Implement existing wellness programming, including Healthy Habits Triple Play, and Smart Moves, on wellness topics including nutrition, physical activity, stress management, self-esteem, anger management, and social skills.<\/li>\n<li>Work with Boys and Girls club staff to develop intensified version of wellness curriculum to use with a specified group of first-third grade members.<\/li>\n<li>Work with Boys and Girls club staff to develop materials to be used for the program including parental pre- and post-program evaluations, registration forms and other forms as needed to run the program.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Promotion and Marketing:\n<ol>\n<li>Assist with promotion\/marketing for a maximum of two Boys and Girls Club events during the summer.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with marketing Boys and Girls Club summer program.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with promoting an end-of-summer event.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Organizational:\n<ol>\n<li>Attend staff training and development sessions for the first two weeks of internship.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with planning for summer events taking place at the Boys and Girls Club.<\/li>\n<li>Work with Boys and Girls Club staff to coordinate and budget for activities and fieldtrips associated with intense wellness curriculum.<\/li>\n<li>Attend professional staff meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with organizing of the Boys and Girls Club Annual Campaign (fundraising).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Contact<\/strong><br \/>\nWendy Staven<br \/>\nPlover Unit Director<br \/>\n2401 Cedar Drive<br \/>\nPlover, WI 54467<br \/>\n<a href=\"mailto:wendy.staven@bgclubpc.org\">wendy.staven@bgclubpc.org<\/a><br \/>\n715-295-0400<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours<br \/>\n<\/strong>25-35 hours per week for 12 weeks<br \/>\nTwo weeks 9am-2pm<br \/>\nTen weeks 9am-4pm<br \/>\n400 hours maximum<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stipend<br \/>\n<\/strong>None<\/p>\n<p><strong>UW-Stevens Point Students Who Completed Internship<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leah Tompkins-Dorheim, 2009 (pictured above)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Overall Goal of Internship The intern will gain experience and knowledge working with the Boys and Girls Club throughout\u00a0Portage County.
