{"id":8872,"date":"2018-03-16T11:58:30","date_gmt":"2018-03-16T16:58:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/?p=8872"},"modified":"2018-10-15T12:52:23","modified_gmt":"2018-10-15T17:52:23","slug":"hpw-internship-prevea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/2018\/03\/16\/hpw-internship-prevea\/","title":{"rendered":"HPW Internship: Prevea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>HPW Internship: Student Experience<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interning at Prevea Health in Green Bay was a great experience to use and expand on many of the skills I learned in class at UWSP.<\/p>\n<p>I worked directly with all of Prevea\u2019s health coaches getting hands on experience with conducting HRA\u2019s and biometric screenings. I also got to sit in with the different health coaches for individual coaching to observe many different styles of coaching. I was also sent out on my own to conduct weigh in\u2019s, blood pressure screenings, body composition testing and health fair booths at many different companies. The health coaching profession requires a lot of traveling around to different companies and a good bit of flexibility in your schedule, you are constantly doing different things and it keeps work interesting. I spent my time in the office working on promotional materials and the organizational side of wellness programs and HRA\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Behavior Change:\n<ol>\n<li>Observe and lead various wellness programs\n<ol>\n<li>GET FIT program (toning and stretching exercise program)\n<ol>\n<li>May have a chance to lead a class under the supervision of the staff<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Healthier U program (observe only)<\/li>\n<li>Wellness Challenges (both for Prevea employees and outside clients)\n<ol>\n<li>Documenting and reporting evaluations from wellness challenges<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Help Develop and evaluate a new wellness program\n<ol>\n<li>Will develop a wellness challenge<\/li>\n<li>Create an evaluation process<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Observe and assist with health coaching sessions, take on clients of my own from within Prevea\n<ol>\n<li>Will observe coaching techniques with the various health coaches<\/li>\n<li>Will be able to do some health coaching with Prevea staff<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Promotion and Marketing:\n<ol>\n<li>Find topics for the Wellness Network handouts\/posters\n<ol>\n<li>Will research topics to follow the 2014 Wellness Network health calendar<\/li>\n<li>Creating flyers, posters, bathroom blurbs<\/li>\n<li>Ideas and suggestions to do for each month regarding the health topic<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Use company guidelines in researching and finding topics and information for monthly wellness newsletters\n<ol>\n<li>Research the health topics for the 2014 monthly newsletters that will be sent out each month<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Create promotional materials for new programs\n<ol>\n<li>Create a wellness challenge \u2013 creating the promotional materials (flyers, email, posters, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Organizational Experiences:\n<ol>\n<li>Develop and analyze a ROI of an existing company program.\n<ol>\n<li>Create a wellness challenge or a program &#8211; and ROI<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate a current company and their current programs and ROI to date.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Help develop a program budget\n<ol>\n<li>Create a wellness program with a budget<\/li>\n<li>Can help work on the Prevea wellness budget<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Contact<\/strong><br \/>\nCandy Blaney<br \/>\nHealth Promotion Coordinator<br \/>\n2710 Executive Drive<br \/>\nGreen Bay, WI 54307<br \/>\n<a href=\"mailto:Candy.Blaney@prevea.com\">Candy.Blaney@prevea.com<\/a><a href=\"mailto:Mlsna.Joyce@mayo.edu\"><br \/>\n<\/a>(920)272-1113<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours<br \/>\n<\/strong>16 weeks 36 hours\/week<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stipend<br \/>\n<\/strong>None<\/p>\n<p><strong>UW-Stevens Point Students Who Completed Internship<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Andrew Dax, Spring 2014 (pictured above)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HPW Internship: Student Experience Interning at Prevea Health in Green Bay was a great experience to use and expand on many of the skills I learned in class at UWSP.
