To meet this need, eight faculty and staff members from the UW-Stevens Point <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/hphd\">School of Health Promotion and Human Development<\/a> completed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalwellness.org\/page\/resilience_thriving\">Resilience &amp; Thriving Facilitator Certificate<\/a> from the National Wellness Institute (NWI), in collaboration with Organizational Wellness Learning Systems (OWLS).<\/p>\n<p>Through evidence-informed tools and competency-based training, participants learned a new system that integrates <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalwellness.org\/?page=Six_Dimensions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NWI&#8217;s 6 Dimensions of Wellness model<\/a> with the concepts of stress,\u00a0resilience, and thriving, and also aligns with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalwellness.org\/?page=competencies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NWI Wellness Promotion Competency Model<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Certificate course participants\u2014as well as the individuals they train\u2014will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>distinguish between how stress, resilience and thriving operates in their lives<\/li>\n<li>identify the effects of stress and signs of not coping well<\/li>\n<li>identify personal coping style and strengths for transforming stress into a positive factor<\/li>\n<li>identify how stress is a risk factor for both personal health and workplace outcomes<\/li>\n<li>recognize healthy alternatives to working with stress<\/li>\n<li>describe five specific steps to thrive from stress<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An increasing number of wellness practitioners are being asked to deliver training or coaching in the areas of resilience and thriving.
