[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pg\/uwspcps\/photos\/?tab=album&amp;album_id=3067669056594274\">Photo Album<\/a>]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The students included the Neurodiversity Alliance support group, the Student Council For Exceptional Children, and Puzzles, an autism awareness student organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grandin, a professor of animal science at Colorado State University and author of several best-selling books, was in Stevens Point to present &#8220;Different Kinds of Minds&#8221; at the Sentry Theater, sponsored by the Center for Inclusive Teaching and Learning (CITL). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Different Kinds of Minds\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iYzaLnl7-pQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Her life was brought to the big screen in the film &#8220;Temple Grandin&#8221; which starred Claire Danes and won seven Emmy awards and a Golden Globe.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Autism Facts<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>1 in 59 U.S. children has been identified with an autism  spectrum disorder (ASD).<\/li><li>ASD in 4.5 times more common in boys (1 in 42) and in girls (1 in 189).  <\/li><li>About 1 in 6 children in the U.S. had a developmental disability 2006-2008.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Show them what you can do!&#8221; That was the empowering message Temple Grandin, Ph.D., one of the world&#8217;s most accomplished and well-known adults with autism, shared during an intimate dinner with a group of UW-Stevens Point students Dec. 3.
