Know that it is possible to eat healthy while on the go! Deborah Tang, a registered dietitian and\u00a0associate lecturer in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/hphd\">School of Health Promotion &amp; Human Development<\/a> at UW-Stevens Point, presented on how to prevent unhealthy habits during busy lives to over 125 participants of the <a href=\"http:\/\/ministryhealth.org\/PointSportsMedicineCenter\/CommunityWeightRace.nws\">Community Weight Race<\/a> on Tuesday, Feb. 20. The Community Weight Race is a program designed for residents of Central Wisconsin who want to lose or maintain weight in a healthy manner.<\/p>\n<p>Participants walked away with an understanding of how to make sensible changes in their diet based on limited time and options, know what to look for when checking the label to food items, and gathered tricks that will help them eat healthier during a hectic schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Tang explained vending foods with the stoplight approach, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/cspinet.org\/new\/pdf\/HealthyVendingGuide.pdf\">Go, Slow, Whoa<\/a>,&#8221; which is used to label the healthfulness of snack foods and beverages.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/02\/vending201202.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-990\" title=\"vending201202\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.uwsp.edu\/cps\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/02\/vending201202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"324\" height=\"216\" \/><\/a>Go foods \u2013 labeled as green \u2013 are lowest in fat, sodium, and calories. These are whole foods that are nutrient dense.\u00a0Go foods should be eaten most often.<\/li>\n<li>Slow foods \u2013 labeled as yellow \u2013 are somewhat higher in fat, sodium, and calories.\u00a0Slow foods are more processed and should be eaten less often.<\/li>\n<li>Whoa foods \u2013 labeled as red \u2013 are highest in fat, sodium, and calories.
