Hey, Pointers! As we continue to move through the semester, it’s important to remind
ourselves of an effective way to keep informed, on track and on the path to success. A great
way to remind yourself to check your email is by using the “Three Check Rule.”

Three Check Rule
● Check once in the morning
● Check once during the middle of the day
● Check once more at night

This is a great habit to get into as your email carries a lot of important information that
you’ll want to know! Here is some important info you will have coming through your UWSP email
to keep an eye out for:
● Class Information
Professors often send extra important information worth noting or last-minute changes through
your email. It’s important to check in case your class gets cancelled or if assignment plans have
changed.
● Campus Information
UWSP sends updates through your email almost daily. These are campus-wide updates and
general information for the student body. It’s important you still check them because you never
know when they will announce something that affects or applies to you. These emails will
ensure you are informed and involved in campus!
● Advisor Information
Your advisor is extremely important! They are a huge part of your campus journey. This is the
person who will help you follow your graduation plan. Your advisor will reach out through your
UWSP email. By emailing with your advisor and scheduling meetings, you are setting yourself
up for success.
● Staying Organized
Outlook isn’t just for emailing, it can also be used as a calendar! You have the option of putting
events straight from your email into the calendar. This allows students to be able to organize all
of their events into one place on their computer instead of 3 different apps. This is one of the
most efficient ways to help you stay organized!
