What’s the event? – All-Major Career and Internship Fair
Where and when is it? – Thursday, September 19, 1-5 p.m. in the Skyward Fieldhouse on Main Campus
How does a student sign up? – No sign up needed. Students can just show up when it works for them between 1 and 5 p.m. that day.
Who will be there? – About 120 employer partners looking to hire Pointers! Whether your student is looking for a professional job after graduation, a professional internship for this coming summer, or is just hoping to get a sense of what their future options will be, the fair is a great use of their time. First year students are welcome and encouraged to attend!
Why should their student go to it/benefits? – Career exploration and preparation isn’t something that can wait until the end of senior year! Our most successful students take these opportunities to talk with employer partners about their organizations, the jobs they anticipate having available in the future, and opportunities to learn more, such as internships or work shadow days. This is the best opportunity to have those conversations because of the sheer number of employer partners from our region who participate.
Anything else students/parents know? – Thanks for participating! Are you feeling shy or uncertain about attending? You can attend a preparatory workshop or schedule an appointment with your adviser to get ready. We recommend that students further along in their career journey wear work casual attire, print and bring copies of their resume with them, and brainstorm questions they would like to ask employers in advance of the fair. A full list of employer partners can be found in an app called Handshake that you have access to.
