Homecoming is getting closer and closer which means it is time to talk about Family Day. Family Day takes place on Saturday, October 5th. This is an all-day event that encourages families to return to campus and visit their Pointer. During Family Day, we have a ton of fun activities going on. 

To start off, the DUC will be open with the following hours: 

8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Homegrown Café 

8 a.m. – 10 p.m. Basement Brewhaus 

10 a.m. – 4 p.m. University Store 

Other fun activities happening on October 5th include: 

9 a.m. – Homecoming 5K, Hosted by the Doctor of Physical Therapy Students 

Lace up your running shoes and join the Doctor of Physical Therapy department as they host a fun 5k run starting at Schmeeckle Reserve. 

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Brunch at DeBot 

Enjoy an all-you-care-to-eat brunch with your Pointer! 

One meal swipe per meal period. Dawg dollars, cash, and card are also accepted. 

10 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Residence Hall Programs 

Each of UW-Stevens Point’s residence hall quads will be presenting unique programming. Experience YOUR student’s community! Check at your residence hall front desk for specific event locations. 

10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. – Pointer Pairs 

Meet Stephanie Pointer in the DUC Concourse! Watch as Pointer Pairs renew their commitment to each other! 

10 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Alginate Gel Poppers: From the Sea to the UWSP! 

Alginate is the product of giant sea kelp and has the amazing property of forming an instant gel when exposed to calcium solutions.  It is used commercially as a food thickener and medically in gentle bandages for serious wounds.  We’ll use it to make alginate “poppers” as you watch – creating a bubble of gel surrounding a tasty fruit cocktail. Located in the CBB First Floor Hallway. 

10 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Imagine Imagining 

We often think of images that use light to be revealed, but there are other ways to image. Explore how we can use senses other than sight to explore materials with an exciting and fun hands-on activity. Located in the CBB First Floor Hallway 

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Canoe and Kayak Lake Joanis 

South shore of Lake Joanis, park along Maria Drive. Paddle Lake Joanis for free with a canoe or kayak from Schmeeckle’s Outdoor Rentals. Paddles and life jackets will be supplied. Meet in Schmeeckle Reserve. 

10 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Schmeeckle Reserve Visitor Center Open 

Free coffee and hot chocolate. Family Day SALE: 20% off one clothing item of your choice (shirts, hoodies, hats, beanies, socks). For discount, tell staff you are with Family Day at the register! 

10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Kickoff Homecoming Hotspot 

Come check out the inflatable games, food trucks, ax throwing, music, reunion tents, STEM shuttle, and more! On top of that, meet Stephanie Pointer! Located at Goerke Park. 

11 a.m. – 12 p.m. – COFAC Open House and Showcase 

Join is for a showcase of student performances in dance, music, and theatre and students work in media, art, and design. This will be held in the Noel Fine Arts Center 

1 p.m. – UWSP Football vs UW-Stout 

We’ve mashed Spud Bowl and Homecoming together this year! Get ready for some potato-themed fun! Free baked potatoes and McCain french fries will be served at the game. Cheer on your Pointer football team as they battle UW-Stout for a Homecoming AND Spud Bowl win! 

4 p.m. – 6 p.m. – BSU Alumni Reunion, Alumni Room 

4 p.m. – 6 p.m. – The College Tour Viewing Party, DUC Theater 

4 p.m. – 6 p.m. – Craft Event by CASE, The Encore, DUC 

8 p.m. – Comedian and Life of the Party: Jonathan Burns, Laird Room, DUC
