Taking a Winterim class during your time at UWSP can be a fantastic way to ensure that all requirements are fulfilled or can allow for some more freedom in the regular semester schedule. Some classes that are required for students are only held over the Winterim period, whereas some students choose to take these classes to get ahead or not have to take as many credits during the semester.

Classes taken over the Winterim period are only three weeks long but still cover an entire semester worth of material. This can seem intimidating at first, but the classes are set up to help you succeed. Although the classes are also fully virtual, your professor will be available to answer any questions you may have. Do not think that you are alone in this!

Registration for the 2026 Winterim period begins on Monday, October 27th. Class meeting days during this period are January 2nd– 3rd, 5th– 10th, and 12th-17th. If you enroll in a Winterim class and upon starting do not think that it is a good fit for you, you can drop the class without receiving a W on your transcript until January 3rd. You can still drop the class after the 3rd, but only until the 12th and you will receive a W on your transcript.
