Stay Active this Winter!

No Comments on Stay Active this Winter!

Hi Pointers! It’s that time of year where the weather gets colder, it gets darker earlier, and exercising becomes slightly more difficult. Students who are physically active are more likely to have improved grades, attendance and cognitive performance! But don’t worry, UWSP has so many great options to keep you up and active during the school year.

  1. On-Campus Gym Options
  • If working out individually on your own time is what you prefer, you should check out either the Allen or Champions Hall Fitness Centers! Memberships are free to all UWSP students, you just need to sign up online in order to fill out the waiver!
  1. Group Exercise
  • If working out by yourself isn’t your thing, there are free group exercise classes offered to UWSP students! You can explore options such as yoga, pilates, cycling, and more! Just bring your workout gear and a student ID and get started!
  1. Aquatics Center
  • If you are looking to switch up your workout routine, a water workout is a great way to go! The Aquatics Center offers free swim times every Monday through Thursday from 11am-1pm and every Sunday through Thursday from 7-9:30pm! Just make sure to bring your student ID and a towel.
  1. Intramurals
  • If there is a specific sport you enjoy, the Intramurals program has a structured environment that promotes healthy competition. They offer leagues including basketball, volleyball, ultimate frisbee and more!
  1. SPIN Events
  • Clubs and organizations will often host events open to students to come and participate, so keep your eye open for new posts!
