Happy Fall, Pointers! 

Are you wondering how to vote as a college student? Read on to learn more about voting in Stevens Point using your school address.  

Can I vote if I’m not from Stevens Point or Wisconsin? 

Yes! To make sure you are eligible, head to myvote.wi.gov, click the blue circle that says “register to vote,” and follow the prompts. You can check your eligibility in step two!  

How do I register to vote? 

You can register to vote in a few ways. They are:  

  • By mail by Oct. 16 
  • Online by Oct. 16 
  • In-person by visiting your municipal clerk’s office. If you choose this option, you must do it by Nov. 1 at 5 p.m. You can find your municipal clerk’s information when you click the blue “register to vote” button on myvote.wi.gov. 
  • Register to vote at your polling place on election day on Nov. 5.  

Note: Out-of-State Students cannot register online, but you can register in-person on election day.

What documents do I need to register? 

Proof of residence document 

  • Students can print a proof of residence document from accesSPoint.  
  • Click the “Academic Record” box. 
  • From the list of options on the left side, click “Voter ID Enroll Verification.” 
  •  From the text, click on the blue lettering that says “Voter ID Enrollment Verification Letter” and follow the prompts.  
  • A printable PDF document with your on-campus address will be generated. 

Wisconsin Driver’s License/ID card. 

Or 

 If you are from out of state, you can use your Student ID. If you flip your ID over and there is a space to sign it and it says “Voter ID exp: DD/MM/YYYY,” it can be used. If it does not have this, you can go to the PointCard office and get a new one for free that will contain the required information above.   

Where do I vote? 

On campus: 

  • Students in the North DeBot Quad and the Allen Quad will vote at the Stevens Point Recreation Center, 2442 Sims Avenue, Stevens Point. It is just down the street from the DUC and Old Main. 
  • Students who live in the South DeBot Quad will vote at the DUC.

When is election day? 

Tuesday, Nov. 5. The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.  

The MyVote Wisconsin Website is a helpful tool. I have linked it multiple times, but you can always access it by going to myvote.wi.gov.
