Are you a UWSP Student who loves the arts? Are you looking to get more involved on campus? Then you should consider joining Players Student Artistic Alliance!
Players Student Artistic Alliance is UWSP’s student run theatre organization on campus. Throughout the school year, Players puts on a number of different social and artistic events. From producing original student works, to showcasing the many talents that happen both on stage and behind the scenes, Players has an opportunity for you.
The purpose of Players Student Artistic Alliance is to foster community, interest, and participation in social and artistic activities, as well as create opportunities for professional educational growth. You do not have to be a theatre major to join Players. In fact, Players encourages those outside of the Department of Theatre and Dance to join and be active in the organization!
Below are some of the events and activities that Players hosts throughout the school year:
- Open Meetings (First Wednesday of every month)
- For anyone who wants to get to know the members of Players and stay updated on what’s coming up.
- Fringe Festival (Spring Semester)
- A student produced full-length show consisting of a compilation of 10-minute student written plays and musicals.
- Night of Color (Fall and Spring Semesters)
- A night that celebrates and uplifts students of color by welcoming them to perform material that excites them.
- Current Voices (Fall Semester)
- A showcase of short, student-written plays performed as staged readings.
- Players Gallery (Spring Semester)
- A night that showcases student talent reserved for design, tech, and drama theatre areas, where guests can view and learn from our students through a walkable array of displays and pitches from artists.
- Spotlight Night (Fall and Spring Semesters)
- A chance for students to perform their work. (scenes, monologues, dance, stand-up comedy, songs, etc).
- Play Club (Every other Friday)
- Dive deep into a variety of plays and discuss them with others in a safe environment.
