At UW-Stevens Point, student employment isn’t just about earning a paycheck—it’s about enriching your academic experience and preparing for your future. With almost 3,000 students actively involved in on-campus employment, you will join a vibrant community where learning extends beyond the classroom.

Types of Jobs

  • On Campus: All campus jobs can be found in Quest for all three UWSP locations (Marshfield, Stevens Point, Wausau). UWSP offers both Federal Work-Study (FWS) and Regular (non-FWS) Student Employment options. Here are a few examples of on campus jobs:
    • Dining Services Staff: Work in central dining center, cafes, or campus eateries in roles such as a cashier, food prep, server, or dishwasher, ensuring smooth operations and providing safe, quality service to students, staff and visitors.
    • Resident Assistant (RA): Live in campus residence halls and serve as a mentor, resource, and leader for fellow students, while also assisting with administrative tasks and fostering community within the residence hall.
    • Tutor or Peer Mentor: Help fellow students succeed academically by providing tutoring services, leading study groups, or serving as a mentor in specific subjects or academic programs.
    • Graphic Design Assistant: Work with campus marketing or communications departments to create promotional materials, design graphics for events or publications and support branding initiatives.
    • Fitness Center Attendant: Monitor fitness center facilities, assist patrons with equipment usage, enforce safety guidelines, and provide excellent customer service in campus fitness centers or recreational facilities.
  • Off Campus: Through our online job database, Quest, on and off campus jobs are posted for UWSP students. Getting an off campus job is a great way to build valuable skills, and earn extra income. Off-campus jobs offer opportunities to interact with diverse people and environments, enhancing your personal growth.
  • Work Study: Federal Work-Study and Non-Federal Work-Study opportunities cater to a diverse range of students. Federal Work-Study specifically targets those with financial need, offering a chance to earn money while gaining invaluable experience. Whether you are staffing the campus bookstore, conducting research alongside professors, or assisting in administrative offices, these roles provide more than just financial support—they’re pathways to skill development and professional growth. Engaging in work-study opens doors to skill-building experiences. From honing time management and communication skills to problem-solving in real-world scenarios, students emerge equipped with competencies crucial for success in academics and beyond.
  • Internships: UWSP partners with Handshake-a modern career development platform to serve as a one stop-shop for employers posting internships and full-time positions to our students and alumni. UWSP provides internship coordinators whose primary focus is to help students obtain practical experience in their chosen field. Internships provide many benefits such as networking with professionals in your field, gaining practical real world experience, building your resume and increasing your marketability after graduation.

Resources

Quest is provided free of charge to employers and to student job seekers. All hiring and compensation for work performed by student employees is handled directly between the student and the employer. Campus Activities and Student Engagement does not perform background checks on students applying for jobs, nor on employers posting job opportunities. Employers and students are encouraged to request reference information from each other as needed to establish qualifications, credentials, and overall fit between the employer and the student.

How To Find A Job

For current students Interested in applying to a UW-Stevens Point on campus job, follow these instructions.

  1. Go to https://www3.uwsp.edu/Pages/logins.aspx, scroll down and click on Quest (Student)
  2. Type in your UWSP student credentials, it will then bring you to your home page where it shows all recently posted and available jobs
  3. You can click on any of the open jobs, and it will bring you to the employers contact info, the position info and when the job was posted.
