If you are a UWSP student, you should check out The Cupboard!
Located on the lower level of the Dreyfus University Center (DUC) in Room 061, The Cupboard is a food pantry open to any current UWSP student. Whether it is a short-term need, immediate need, or a lasting need, The Cupboard works to support all students who have any degree of food need. The Cupboard’s mission is to help students meet basic needs so that they can put their focus towards academic success. The Cupboard is staffed by student volunteers, and organizes food drives, raises awareness, and assists with the distribution of food to those in need.
There are two ways in which students can access The Cupboard:
- During walk-in hours– Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30pm (except for state-recognized holidays)
- By filling out an online request form
- If a student cannot make it to open hours, or even if they would prefer not to come to The Cupboard, this online request form is a great resource. After filling out the form, volunteers will pack a box of food based off of the preferences selected on the form. From there, the package will be left at the CASE desk, and students will receive an email from SPIN when their package is ready to be picked up. (online orders are accepted anytime, including during finals week and all summer)
The Cupboard is always accepting donations too! If you would like to donate, stop by DUC 061 and drop your items off in the teal bin! They also accept fresh, non-expired food items, so be sure to bring those to the CASE office in DUC 050. Furthermore, donations can be directly shipped from stores such as Costco, Sam’s Club, and more! If you need any assistance with your donation, please call 715-346-4700.
As well as food donations, monetary donations can be made to The Cupboard. These donations allow for volunteers to stock the shelves with high-nutrient foods, as well as missing items from the current inventory. For more information on monetary donations (including information on who to make check(s) payable to, etc), as well as further information about the food pantry, visit The Cupboard’s Website.
