Starting college is a new and exciting experience, but it can also seem frightening and overwhelming. For me, it has been valuable to have a strong support system to help in the transitional times of my life and to keep me going.
My mom has been my biggest cheerleader and supporter through the whole experience. Without support or someone cheering me on it would have made my college experience much more trying. I cannot express enough how much her support means to me. She is always one phone call away, giving me advice (even the kind I do not want to hear) and helping me advocate for my success.
When I am stressed or overwhelmed with school or work I know I can always count on my mom to be there to listen. She will listen to my venting or ranting with open ears every time. It is a huge relief to be able to get things off my chest and share them with her. She is best at listening when I need her and I will be forever grateful for that.
Parental advice does not always seem desirable, especially growing up. Now as a young adult and college student, there is nothing I appreciate more than my parent’s advice. It is beneficial to share things with my mom that I am too emotionally invested in. She can often look at things from a different perspective and bring things to my attention that I cannot see. She does not always tell me the things I want to hear, but in the long run, I appreciate her honesty. I know she only wants what she thinks is best for me.
My mom is always looking to my future and trying to help me succeed in what I do. She pushes me to my limits and is always advocating for my success. She gives me ideas and the resources I need to be successful. When the resources are not available, she gives me the support and encouragement I need to push myself to do better.
Having that one person there always cheering me on and advising me in life is something I would not trade for the world. I wish everyone could experience the same support and value that I receive from my mom. Thank you, mom, for everything you do for me. I hope you know how much I appreciate you.
