Welcome Pointers! The summer has been a blast—binging the latest Netflix shows, tanning by the pool and sleeping in until who knows when. Now, stores are officially being stocked with fresh school supplies and the cute boots you didn’t get last fall are calling your name for the start of classes.

Welcome week is just around the corner and I have the exclusive updates on what’s happening.

First things first, FREE admission at the Fitness Centers all week! Let’s delve into the events and activities of the week:

Thursday, Aug. 29

9 a.m.-4 p.m. New Student Move-In: If you’re a freshman, mark this one on your calendars. Make sure you arrive to your resident hall accordingly. Remember, all freshman will be arriving the same day so parking is going to be tight. Don’t let that stop you from enjoying your time unpacking with your fam before saying goodbye!

4:30-5:30 p.m. Floor Meeting Group One/Dinner Group Two: While group two is grabbing a bite in the Dreyfus University Center (DUC), group one gets to hang out with their residential advisers on their floor.

5:30-6:30 p.m. Floor Meeting Group Two/Dinner Group One: Group one gets to grab a bite from the Dreyfus University Center, while group two gets to hang out with their residential advisers on their floor.

7 p.m. Can I Kiss You? Take some time out of your unpacking to learn more about consent and respect in a relationship. This is a mandatory event, located in the Multi-Activity Center.

9 p.m. Outdoor Movie: “The Secret Life of Pets 2”: End the night by getting bundled up, grabbing snacks and a blanket to watch a movie on the Colman Track.

Friday, Aug. 30

7-9:30 a.m. Breakfast is served in the Dreyfus University Center!

10:30-11:30 a.m. Convocation: A UWSP tradition you won’t want to miss. This is a mandatory event, located in the Multi-Activity Center.

11:30 a.m.-Noon Class Photo: All the freshman in one place for one huge photo! Located on the Kotal Field.

11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. New Student Picnic and Vendor Fair: Grab a buddy and head to DeBot Field to meet people and eat free food.

1:30-2:30 p.m. The Secrets to Winning College: Attend a new student advising meeting. This is a mandatory event, located in the Quandt Fieldhouse.

3:30-5 p.m. City Tours by Bus: Explore the city with other Pointers. Find cool places to eat, shop and have fun with your friends. This is event is hosted by our very own Student Government Association (SGA).

5-7 p.m. Pull up a chair as the DUC proudly presents…your dinner!

7-10 p.m.  DUC House Party: Live it up with fun and games in the DUC.

Saturday, Aug. 31

9 a.m.-Noon Labor of Love: Located in the entrance of the Multi-Activity Center.

9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Brunch is served in the DUC!

1-2 p.m. Inclusivity Workshop: Enjoy this event with Diversity and College Access. This is a mandatory event, located in the Quandt Fieldhouse.

2-4 p.m. ROTC Open House: Located in room 37 Champions Hall.

2-5 p.m. UWSP Tech Essentials: Located in the DUC.

4:30-7 p.m. Be our guest at the DUC for Dinner!

8 p.m. Comedian Eric O’Shea: End your night filled with laughter in the Quandt Fieldhouse.

Sunday, Sept. 1

9 a.m.-4 p.m. Returning Students Move-In: Upper classman finally make your appearance as you get situated for another eventful year as a Pointer!

9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Brunch is served in the DUC!

1-4 pm. “After Hours” Gaming: Retro games, board games, snacks and prizes in the University Library Albertson Hall.

3-4 p.m. FREE Group Fitness: Dance, tone, stretch and sweat at the group fitness sample class. Located in the Berg Gymnasium, Champions Hall.

4:30-7 p.m. Be our guest at the DUC for dinner!

8 p.m. Hypnotist Chris Jones: Head over to the Quandt Fieldhouse for this event.

Monday, Sept. 2

11 a.m.-3 p.m. FREE Canoe, Kayak and Paddleboard: Use on Schmeeckle Reserve’s Lake Joanis

Noon-3 p.m. Club Sports RECFest: Meet the teams to get involved! Located on the DeBot sidewalk.

1-3 p.m. Bubble Soccer: All are welcome for this open play event! Located on the DeBot Field.

2 -5 p.m. Ranger Challenge: This event is by ROTC. Located in the Parking Lot F West.

5-7 p.m. Yard Games with the Greeks: If you’re interested in joining a close-knit sisterhood or brotherhood this year check out this event.

7-10 p.m. RHA Welcome Back Dance: Dance it out with your pals before classes begin the next morning! Located in the Laird Room, DUC.

  • Thursday–Friday: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Saturday–Monday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Basement Brewhaus:

  • Thursday–Friday: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Monday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Allen Fitness Center:

  • Thursday: 6:15 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Friday: 6:15 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Sunday: Noon-6 p.m.
  • Monday: Noon-9 p.m.

Champions Hall Fitness Center:

  • Thursday: 7 a.m.- 9 p.m.
  • Friday: 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Sunda: Noon-6 p.m.

Lower at Allen:
