Happy homecoming, Pointers! Or should I say, ZOOMComing! I know this year’s homecoming looks different, but we’re still celebrating all week long. There are activities planned every day to get alumni or current Pointers in the homecoming spirit. See a few of the events happening Oct. 12-17.
Pointer Virtual 5k: Run, Walk, Roll
I have ran many 5k’s and a half marathons! They are super fun, especially when you have your friends and peers running with you for support. What’s different is that this 5k is virtual and you can do it anytime during the week. Run with a family member, roommate(s) or classmates! Wear your Pointer gear to really show off your pride!
P.S. If you mail to alumni@uwsp.edu with your proof of completion and your race time, you’ll be eligible for the medal. Learn more and register here.
Cupcake Decorating Contest: Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
Pointer-themed cupcakes were due on Oct. 11 at 5 p.m. and the winner will be announced on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. The requirements were that the cupcakes must be UWSP themed, appropriate and made in 2020. Watch the livestream on Facebook to see which Pointer won!
Pointer Bingo with Scott West ’84: Oct. 15 at 6 p.m.
Do you love games? Well, this event is for you! Bingo is happening on Thursday, Oct. 15 and is hosted by Scott West, a UWSP alumnus who has worked at his alma mater for more than two decades, recruiting the best and brightest to the Pointer family. Space is limited, so sign up early. You best believe I’m bringing my A-game!
UWSP ZOOMComing Wish You Were Here Parade: Oct. 17 at 10 a.m.
UWSP Alumni asked alumni, students and the community to build their best Pointer alumni “float” using whatever was handy at home. Submissions of the floats were due on Oct. 11 and the virutal parade will take place on Oct. 17. We can’t wait to see all of the creative ideas!
