The Army ROTC program offers a wide variety of leadership programs for cadets to participate in. Among these programs is the DCLT program, which offers cadets the opportunity to learn leadership roles as a 2nd lieutenant. In this leadership role, I got to lead a basic training unit as they went through their training.
With the guidance of drill sergeants, we were able to run training and shooting ranges. As cadets we got to fire AT4s and grenades. In addition to fire weapons, we got to participate in pugel sticks, confidence courses, and field exercises. PT was lead in the morning by drill sergeants. As cadet 2nd lieutenants, our responsibility was to coach and mentor the privates when not planning the next days training. The training and lessons we learned at DCLT were incredibly fun and useful to a cadet’s career.
