Associate Professor Kym Buchanan, Ph.D., has been named the associate dean of the College of Professional Studies and department chair of the School of Education, announced Dean Marty Loy.
As associate dean and department head, Kym Buchanan will lead the faculty, staff and students in the School of Education (SOE). Its mission is to develop highly qualified professional educators who honor the uniqueness of all learners and actively demonstrate the knowledge, skills and dispositions of effective teachers positively impacting our diverse world.
He plans to collaborate with community partners in PK-20 education and beyond to help sustain high-impact teaching and learning in the region.
Buchanan has a Ph.D. in Learning, Technology, and Culture from Michigan State University. Buchanan, who replaces Patty Caro who retired in January, has taught at UW-Stevens Point since 2006. His research and outreach include motivation, diversity, technology and how individuals and organizations learn from challenges.
