A team of students from UW-Stevens Point won the 2017 American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science of Wisconsin (ASCLS-WI) Student Bowl competition April 3 in Middleton.

Competing against 22 teams from bachelor degree programs, the “Bleeders of the Pack” team of seniors Sophie Blair, Ellie Jestus, Michael Clemmons, Emily Chaltry and Nicole Buza won the MLS division. UW-Stevens Point had a total of eight teams of clinical laboratory science students competing in the Student Bowl.

In addition, Tyler Moderson (2nd place) and Jennifer Keats (3rd place) were in the top three in the Literature Review category of the poster competition.

On the faculty side, Michelle Shulfer was awarded the Omicron Sigma State Level Award in recognition of valuable contributions to ASCLS-WI for her work on revamping the student bowl game with alum Chase Jaime.
