HPW Student Internship Perspective – Shauna Bollinger 16′
Interning at Hilton Head Health has been a wonderful experience, helping me grow as a professional and person. H3 has given me many tools that I can take with me in my future. During my time at H3, my intern responsibilities varied through each week. The beginning nine weeks, I went through each program such as Marketing, Guest Services, Program Development, and Nutrition where I would assist with specific tasks that each program track mentor assigned. One main intern responsibility was teaching and assisting in group fitness classes, such as Treading (picture below), Tabata Fitness, Water Fitness, Ultra Circuit, Mediation, Core Strength and much more. Other duties involved assisting in PNF/Roller Recovery 1 on 1 sessions, conducting pre and post fitness assessments (Bruce Protocol, Strength and Flexibility, FMS), Beach Walks, and performing Health Screenings. I had so much fun interning at H3 because I got to expand my knowledge and meet new people – staff and guests! Shauna is shown teaching a popular class at H3, Treading.
