Guest blogger Ben Formella, a sophomore at Pacelli Catholic High School, is a participant in Teen Leadership Portage County who shadowed Dean Marty Loy for a day.
As if Stevens Point wasn’t already enough a great community on its own, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point confirms this by having its own amazing virtues.
Today I am lucky enough to spend the day at UW-Stevens Point and explore what this outstanding university is all about. Here at UWSP it is all one connected community. Instead of just being caught up in one’s own agenda, people really look out for each other, which creates a warm and welcoming environment.
There is also a dedication to work here that can’t be compared to anything else. Apart from the amazing people, the environment here is fantastic. The technology is absolutely superb and I haven’t seen any other place with such top-notch tech, especially in the Innovation Space and Joan North Place.
The rooms are all nicely renovated creating a comfortable space, whereas some work places can seem like a prison.
UWSP isn’t just run by adults however, the students have a huge role in this community. There are so many hands-on activities here for students and it really brings out the best in people, instead of students being isolated just to do their own work.
Together with the fantastic community and people, amazing environment, and hardworking students, UW-Stevens Point is a place where everyone can feel at home.
