Overall Goal of Internship
The intern will gain experience in behavior change facilitation, promotion and marketing, and administration.  The intern agrees to follow all rules and facility guidelines, as well as those determined by intern supervisor.  The intern will perform the activities outlined in the objectives, agreed upon by the intern and site supervisors.

Objectives

  1. Behavior Change:
    1. Gain experience in wellness programming, rehabilitative programming, and exercise prescription
    2. Perform fitness testing and evaluation on West Metro employees
    3. Provide compliance results to appropriate personnel on “MET” test
    4. Administer physical ability testing “PAT” to all uniformed personnel
    5. Assist in coordinating wellness activities and educational workshops, lectures and demonstrations
    6. Perform job-site analysis for ergonomics, worker’s compensation claims, safety purposes, and injury prevention
  2. Promotion and Marketing:
    1. Develop Heart Scans promotional material to disseminate to uniform personnel
    2. Promote Fitday Dietary software to uniform personnel and teach them how to utilize it
    3. Build better intern promotional opportunities website and market
  3. Organizational/Administrative:
    1. Assist in development of wellness manual and nutritional manual for uniformed personnel
    2. Assist in job analysis for department personnel including physical requirements, job scope, educational requirements, certifications, work schedule and environmental factors
    3. Assist in the maintenance of files and computer database
