HPW Student Internship Experience – Jackie Schommer 15′

Interning with the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department allowed me to gain valuable skills working in both community and employee wellness. During my internship I had the opportunity to shadow dietitians and personal trainers, proof the spring and summer recreation guides, create flyers for wellness classes offered at the recreation centers, lead Youth Health Fair and Let’s Move! meetings,
and help further develop the Let’s Move! initiative in Boulder by creating an action plan. The majority of my internship was spent coordinating the inaugural Youth Health Fair and providing wellness coaching and supervised exercise sessions to city employees who enrolled in the Health Improvement Program.
