Michelle Shulfer, senior lecturer in the clinical laboratory science program at UW-Stevens Point, has been named the 2021 College of Professional Studies Ethel and Ward Cable Family Faculty Heroes Award winner.
For two years in a row, Michelle worked with the Health Care Organization student group to raise funds and organize a university and community effort with Feed My Starving Children MobilePack. They purchased meal ingredients and hand-packed over 100,000 meals that were shipped all over the world to help feed malnourished children. In total, 1,000 volunteers packed 233,328 meals that fed 639 children for one year. The efforts were such large undertakings, that the two-day packing events were held at the Noel Hangar.
