Dick Cable, a longtime supporter of students and faculty in the UW-Stevens Point College of Professional Studies, died on Feb. 17, 2022, at the age of 88.
Cable, along with his sister Judy Cable Anderson, established the Ethel and Ward Cable Family Faculty Heroes Award that honors one College of Professional Studies faculty or staff member each year who has done something heroic.
This fund was established as an opportunity for the Cable family to honor their mother and father, Ethel and Ward Cable. It provides additional financial support to a faculty/staff and/or department program or initiative that is deemed “heroic” in nature by the dean of the College of Professional Studies.
The Cable family has also donated significantly to the CPS Student Heroes Award in honor of many friends and family.
“Dick was the person behind our Student and Faculty Heroes Awards,” said CPS Dean Marty Loy. “His kindness, optimism and generosity have made a big impact on our college and our students.”
