An exciting new project is underway at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Sentry School of Business and Economics as the school has retained Carnegie to help with an important research and consensus-building project to clarify and define “who we are” as well as provide opportunities for growth in enrollment, reputation and awareness for the institution.

Carnegie is an industry leader in reputation research and strategy, specializing in crowd-sourced and consensus-driven processes to achieve authentic results. This project will take several months to complete, and ultimately culminate in a new reputation strategy and communication platform for Sentry School. Carnegie’s original and proprietary methodology has been delivered to colleges and universities across the country and was featured on the cover of The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Carnegie’s method is entirely built around the input of the people who know the Sentry School of Business and Economics best, thus a series of six two-hour workshops were conducted on campus Oct. 10 (Personality workshop) and Oct. 11 (Messaging workshop) with our students, faculty/staff, alumni and partners to answer the question: Who is the UWSP Sentry School of Business and Economics at its best? The Personality workshops defined the authentic human personality of the Sentry School of Business both current and future, while the Messaging workshops cascaded these insights into messaging and storyline outcomes. The results are powerful, and will unify the communication—and thus the reputation—of the business school for years to come.

The workshops are just part of the process that will also include an online survey, competitor analysis and external perception research that will lead to brand positioning and story development and, ultimately, a brand launch with a signature creative playbook. The entire project is one of the outcomes from the $10 million gift from Sentry that will enhance recruitment and business engagement activities of the Sentry School of Business and Economics at UW-Stevens Point.

Spring 2024 Update

Who is Sentry School? We are analytical innovators, determined competitors, and nurturing supporters. Last fall, we held workshops with our partners at Carnegie to help define who we are. On Jan. 30, Carnegie revealed its research identifying the authentic personality of Sentry School that will be the cornerstone of a brand launch. The Carnegie team also led interactive exercises to train our communications, marketing and outreach professionals on how to communicate in the style of the authentic personality identified for Sentry School. Watch out world, because you’ll begin to see our personality shine through as we continue to champion bold progress that empowers every member of our community to unlock their full potential.
