From tinsel roll to reindeer ring toss, young fans enjoyed Education Day in Quandt Fieldhouse as students in the UW-Stevens Point SHAPER Club (Students for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation) organized wacky holiday activities during the Pointers women’s basketball 79-32 win over Marian on Thursday, Dec. 19.
The original plan for Education Day was to host 1,500 elementary students from eight schools, but with snow cancelling class for the Stevens Point Area Public School District, local families who could still make it to campus in the snow, came out in full force to cheer on the Pointers. Along with faculty adviser Ann Hockett and Paul Haas, SHAPER Club members handed out team posters and rally towels to all the kids at the game and organized activities during timeouts and halftime.
