A breath of fresh air

When I first started attending UW-Stevens Point a year ago, I mentioned some of the things that were different compared to my last school. One of the first things I noticed when I got here was that people will actually hold the door open for others!

When you walk into a building and there are people behind you, most people here will stop for a second to hold the door. It doesn’t matter if you are on crutches, or able bodied, people will still hold it open!

While I’ve been on either one or two crutches, people have always raced ahead of me to grab the door and hold it open for me. Now, with how many times I have been on crutches, I am used to getting the door when I am alone. I actually have a method in how I do it, but since I’ve been on crutches here, I’ve barely used it.

I know that to a lot of people this isn’t a big deal, but to me that shows kindness to others. In a world where sometimes all you hear on the news are the bad things going on in the world, seeing that college students aren’t too self involved to stop and hold the door open for others is a breath of fresh air.

Keep it up!
