Four recent accounting alumni were welcomed back to campus on Tuesday, Oct. 25 for a panel discussion as a part of the UWSP School of Business events program. The alumni addressed current SBE students about their careers and the paths that got them to this point.

For Cody Giese, ’08, an accountant at Sentry Insurance, his career stemmed from receiving a Sentry Insurance scholarship, followed by an internship which led to his full-time position. Andrew Andrich, ’11, impressed his current employer, ThyssenKrupp Waupaca, Inc., by completing part of the certified management accountant (CMA) exam. He is now a financial analyst there.

A recommendation from a professor led Roy Alexander, ’09, to write a letter to Clifton Gunderson, accept an internship, and come away with a tax position. First day on the job, Alexander was asked to switch to an assurance associate and he has never looked back. Lisa Marz, ’09, emphasized applying early and often to the current students. She landed her job as an accountant with Ministry Health Care in April 2009, a month before she graduated.
