UW-Stevens Point Physical Education Professor Scott Frazier earned the 2012 Midwest Honor Award from the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD), presented at the Wisconsin Health and Physical Education (WHPE) banquet on Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Chula Vista Resort and Waterpark in Wisconsin Dells.

The Honor Award is the highest recognition the Midwest District AAHPERD can bestow to an individual who is clearly outstanding in his/her profession with long and distinguished service to health, physical education, recreation, dance, and/or sport.

Frazier’s teaching specialties includes measurement and assessment, secondary methods, organization and administration, and supervision of student teachers. He is the first professor from UWSP to receive this honor.

“I enjoy teaching the freshman introduction class and watching the new majors develop into mature role models, confident in their knowledge of teaching practices, and highly sought-after for employment by the time they leave the program,” said Frazier.

He is currently serving as the investment chair and member of WHPE and serves as parliamentarian of the Midwest District association. On the national level, Frazier chairs the Public and Legislative Affairs Committee for AAHPERD. He was the 2003-04 president of WAHPERD and 2007 president of Midwest District.
