HPW Student Internship Experience – Mitch Fromm 16′

The Plover Fire Department (PFD) is an internship ripe with opportunity to test new ideas, learn about the emergency services, and work directly with many members of the community. Some of the ongoing programs include the American Red Cross smoke detector drive, fire inspections, and fire safety week. The internship is a new position that keeps emergency response personnel prepared mentally and physically for any situation. New programs included boot camp and personal training, “Choose This, Not That” nutrition course, and creating open connections with the American Red Cross and EAP services to aid EMR personnel. This internship has many challenges as the program is new but the resources are plentiful. This makes for a very flexible opportunity for a responsible person looking to grow in their skills. Plover Fire Department is an excellent way to showcase intern abilities and create many contacts in the Point/Plover community. The picture above shows Mitch giving a presentation in the training room at PFD about the health concern of different foods and what they mean for the performance of a firefighter.
