The Army ROTC program at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has a new department chair and professor of military science in Army Lieutenant Colonel Rochell Maier who started with the Pointer Battalion in August 2016.

LTC Maier received her Army commission in Aviation through ROTC and has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and a master’s degree from Marshall University.

During her career in the military, LTC Maier served in many leadership and staff positions in both the U.S. Army Reserves in Alabama and California and in the Army National Guard in Minnesota and Wisconsin. She has served on three overseas deployments with the WIARNG in support of Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Iraq Freedom. LTC Maier has served as the Wisconsin National Guard Deputy Inspector General, she stood up and activated the Wisconsin CBRN Enhanced Response Force Package (CERFP) battalion; of which there are only 19 Nationwide that respond to State and National natural and manmade disasters. She commanded the Recruiting and Retention Battalion and most recently served as the Wisconsin National Guard Provost Marshal. Prior to going full time with the Wisconsin Army National Guard, LTC Maier worked as a Park Ranger at Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo, Wis., a Police Officer in Newport Beach, Calif., and as a Police Officer and volunteer Fire Fighter in Eagan, Minn. She is currently on military leave of absence from Envoy Airlines based at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

LTC Maier’s awards include the Master Aviator Badge, the Air Assault Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and the MN Meritorious Service Medal along with many other Federal and State ribbons.

LTC Maier lives with her husband Roberto Colon in Lodi, Wis.
