Richard “Dick” Judy passed away Dec. 29, 2018, on his 84th birthday.
Dick was born Dec. 29, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Benton and Marion (Nail) Judy. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1958 and began serving as a spec 4. Dick married Mary Louise Ballard on Dec. 28, 1958. Dick served as a commissioned officer in the Army from 1961-1985, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. During his service Dick earned his master’s and doctorate from Indiana University.
At UW-Stevens Point, Judy served as associate dean of the College of Letters and Science, head of Business and Economics from 1985-92 and as the Distinguished Carl N. Jacobs Professor of Business Administration. He was the director of internships and the Small Business Institute and an adviser for Fast Track, a business, accounting and economics student honorary organization.
He was an active member of several Stevens Point organizations.
A Celebration of Life visitation for Dick will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday Jan. 4, 2019, at the Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley St. Stevens Point. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in his name at a later date.
